In case it's helpful: the cable I'm using to connect the nano to my computer is the Digitech USB A to Mini 5pin Plug (bought at the same store as the nano & uno), but I'm also using a hub since Macbook Pros don't have an in-built standard USB plug.

Uno works perfectly fine, but the nano seems to have connection problems. I've recently bought a nano and uno (branded as Duinotech).
